Toys“R”Us announced the launch of its fifth consecutive fundraising campaign to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation™ (ALSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancer. Beginning Saturday, May 30 through Friday, July 31, monetary donations will be collected at all Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com/AlexsLemonade. Toys“R”Us is once again inviting social media users to show support for the cause and for Alexandra “Alex” Scott, the inspiration behind ALSF, by joining the conversation online using #Stir4ACure. Since the partnership began in 2011, donations from customers, Toys“R”Us, Inc. and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund together have provided more than $8.5 million to help ALSF fund pediatric cancer research and support families affected by cancer.
In 2015, Toys“R”Us significantly expanded its ongoing partnership with Special Olympics, building upon its leadership in advocating for children of all abilities around the world. The company introduced a new initiative designed to ensure all kids experience the thrill of their #MyFirstSportsMoment by learning how to hit balls, run bases, take jump shots and more.
During a recent in-store and online fundraising campaign, more than $2 million was raised in support of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games, to be held in Los Angeles, CA from July 25 to August 2, and to the expansion of the organization’s Young Athletes™ Program. One hundred percent of donations collected were directed to Special Olympics and will be used to support these two programs. The company will also serve as a Games Level sponsor of the 2015 World Games, with a $1.25 million commitment from the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund.
As part of the partnership expansion, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund awarded a $500,000 grant to Special Olympics to aid in the organization’s five-year plan to strengthen and grow the Young Athletes Program in the U.S. and globally. This inclusive, innovative play program for children with and without intellectual disabilities helps kids ages 2½ to 7, develop critical early cognitive, social and motor skills and introduces them to the world of sports.
As part of its 2014 nationwide in-store and online fundraising campaign to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, along with its customers, Toys“R”Us helped raise a record-breaking $6.4 million, bringing holiday joy to kids in need across the United States. In addition to monetary donations, shoppers also made Christmas a little merrier for less fortunate children by donating new, unwrapped toys in Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores, providing more than 220,000 toys to Toys for Tots. In partnership with NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal (a.k.a Shaq-A-Claus), hundreds of fans and followers participated in the #PlayItForward challenge by taking the ultimate “un-selfie” – a photo of themselves donating a toy to Toys for Tots in any Toys“R”Us location. For every selfie shared using #PlayItForward, the company donated an additional toy (or the equivalent cash value) to the organization.
As the largest retail partner in the history of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Toys“R”Us together with the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund and customers donations, has provided over $41.9 million and collected more than 4 million toys since the partnership began in 2004.

Toys“R”Us Introduces Reusable Tote Bag Benefiting Save the Children
Expanding its partnership with Save the Children, the company’s primary disaster response partner for domestic and global emergencies, Toys“R”Us stores nationwide are now carrying an exclusive, 100% recyclable reusable tote bag. One dollar from the purchase of each bag will be donated directly to Save the Children’s Domestic Emergency Fund to help further strengthen disaster preparedness programs and relief efforts in the United States.
Additionally, Toys“R”Us and Save the Children are working together to provide families important information on how to best prepare for emergencies. Disaster planning tips and a co-branded preparedness checklist can be found on the company’s dedicated safety site, Toysrus.com/Safety. Also included is a list of essential supplies for at-home and to-go emergency kits. Customers are also encouraged to visit Toysrus.com/SaveTheChildren to view the organization’s official registry of products such as diapers, wipes and clothing, as well as toys and games, which are distributed in “child-safe” shelters and recovery centers in the wake of a disaster. Items purchased from the registry will be shipped directly to Save the Children.
In conjunction with this initiative, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund has provided a $100,000 grant to the Domestic Emergency Fund, reinforcing the company’s commitment to children and families during times of crisis.
