Toys“R”Us announced the launch of its nationwide Play With Purpose fundraising campaign to benefit Save the Children, the leading nonprofit working to ensure every U.S. child is healthy, safe and educated. Now through Sunday, April 17 all Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us stores nationwide are collecting monetary donations in-store and online at Toysrus.com/PlayWithPurpose, to make certain children in impoverished regions of the country can experience play in the early stages of development. Toys“R”Us will also provide Save the Children with toys to create “play packs” for families who are involved with the organization’s Early Steps to School Success program – a targeted approach intended to enhance school readiness for children ages zero to five. Each child is able to keep these playthings – ensuring play and learning go hand-in-hand.
For more than a decade Toys“R”Us, Inc. and Save the Children have partnered together to bring awareness and much-needed funding to children in need in the U.S. and around the world. Financial support totalingmore than $7.6 million – including donations from customers, Toys“R”Us and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund – has helped the organization provide thousands of blankets to babies in impoverished regions of the U.S., benefited Save the Children’s early childhood development programs and offered much-needed assistance during times of crises.
To kick-off the 2016 #PlayWithPurpose campaign, the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund awarded Save the Children a $100,000 grant.
As part of its 2015 nationwide in-store and online fundraising campaign, Toys“R”Us, Inc. raised more than $5.8 million and collected more than 200,000 toys to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, helping bring holiday joy to children in need across the United States. NBA Legend, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Shaquille O’Neal once again joined the company’s efforts as his alter ego Shaq-A-Claus, encouraging customers to #PlayItForward and donate to Toys for Tots.
As the largest retail partner in the history of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Toys“R”Us has raised nearly $48 million and collected more than 4 million toys since the partnership began in 2004.
Through generous in-store and online donations from Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us customers, the company raised nearly $2.2 million during its fifth consecutive nationwide fundraising and awareness campaign benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for pediatric cancer. During the program, Toys“R”Us encouraged social media users to show support for the cause and for Alexandra “Alex” Scott, the inspiration behind ALSF, by joining the conversation online using #Stir4ACure. Since the partnership began in 2011, donations from customers, Toys“R”Us and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund together have provided more than $10.5 million to the organization.
